If you have insurance the medical industry offers:
Drugs/Injections - May not reduce knee pain
Physical Therapy - May not reduce knee pain
Very little interaction with the medical staff and Physical Therapist
If these prescribed remedies do not work, then it's off to surgery. In the USA, having the right insurance can mean scheduling knee surgery in just a couple of weeks. In contrast, the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) often requires patients to wait several months from the initial consultation to the actual surgery date.
This blog is for those who want to explore alternatives to knee surgery, understand their options, and take charge of their joint health.

For 20 long years, I endured knee pain that seemed like it would never end. Month after month, I paid for health insurance, just like so many others, trusting it would lead me to a solution. The options insurance covered—pain medications, invasive shots, even surgery—seemed to push me closer to the surgeon’s table rather than healing. So I turned to alternative methods and discovered a variety of holistic options, six of which I combined into what I now call “The Knee Pain Recipe.” In 2014, for the first time in two decades, I found myself living pain-free. I still have both of my original knees and am forever grateful to have taken a path that truly worked.
Insurance is great to have however it may not be the best option for women with chronic knee/joint pain who want to avoid surgery.
Why Standard Medical Treatments Miss the Mark
The conventional medical pathway for treating knee pain typically involves three primary solutions: injections, surgery and physical therapy. While these options can provide effective, short-term relief, they often fail to address the underlying issues causing pain. Here’s why:
One-size-fits-all Approach in Physiotherapy:
In many healthcare systems, physical therapy is often prescribed either before or after surgery. However, these sessions tend to focus primarily on strengthening exercises rather than corrective exercises tailored to the individual’s unique alignment and movement patterns. Even though you pay for insurance you are not guaranteed personal service for your specific knee problem.
The standardized exercise protocols used in physiotherapy are often generic, aiming to increase muscle strength around the knee. While strengthening is important, it doesn’t address misalignment or muscle imbalances that cause ongoing inflammation. This can leave patients still inflamed, sore, and at risk of further injury or pain migration to other joints, such as the hips or lower back.
Our Perspective: A Holistic, Complementary Approach
I am not against the medical industry. In fact, I view my work as complementary to theirs. By addressing root causes I aim to fill the gap left by conventional treatments. Realigning the kinetic chain is a start to life long healing.
Finding the Root Cause: Misalignment and Inflammation
When you are limping because of your pain this can cause a misaligned kinetic chain, adding undue pressure on the knee, hip and ankle joints. This contributes to joint inflammation and pain. Without addressing this misalignment, you will continue to experience pain even after surgery. This can also lead to pain in other joints, such as the hips, back, or shoulders since the body compensates for the knee’s altered mechanics.
All Knee Pain is Not The Same
Meniscus tears, osteoarthritis, front, back and sides of knee pain all need to be treated in a different way. Swelling and stiffness can mean different problems and need to be addressed on a personalized one-on-one basis. Your knee problems are unique. Having an experienced knee pain reduction coach will guide you through all 6 steps of the "Knee Pain Recipe". The method will guarantee after the 6 steps you will be able to:
Climb stairs with less pain
Take vacations with less fear
Build confidence to reduce the fear of falling
Wake up with less stiffness
